Sammy J's Grill & Bar

A short time ago I returned from a business trip to Vancouver. Working in construction my whole life, "Business trip" still sounds quite strange to me; the furthest I had traveled for work was an hour away to build a house...

Back to basics. The aim of this business adventure was to film a Vancouver favorite "bar and grill" establishment named "Sammy J's". We stopped at their first location, Coquitlam, then headed to their newly renovated Langley location after eating the most unique and flavorful sandwich I have ever experienced in my life, The Lobster Grilled Cheese. The truth is, they have the freshest and best quality meats and cheeses in Canada. Trust me when I say that you could tell after one bite.

The main concept behind this post is to give Sammy J's props. I was just the guy brought down to film and edit a commercial, but fell in love with every tiny detail about the place. The meals I ate were of the utmost quality and should be served in billion-dollar steakhouses, the waitresses were beautiful and sincerely nice, and the atmosphere and people I encountered were people I could be around day and night.

Without further ado, here's the commercial, which can also be found on the home page of their website located here------------> Sammy J's Website

If you ever visit Vancouver, I HIGHLY recommend stopping by Sammy J's Grill & Bar for a few drinks and a bite to eat (Lobster Grilled Cheese) to taste some of the amazing food that head chef, Jay Baker has invented.

If you manage to make it down, find Mike or Steve, two of the nicest and most fun guys I've ever met. Oh, did I mention that they own Sammy J's? And to answer your question: Yes. They love to party.

Short Film Contest

My good buddy, Trevor Kristjanson and I, always had ideas for filming, but lacked the time and effort to get together. My aunty told me a little late in the game, that there was a short film contest on Breakfast Television, so I got a hold of Trevor and said, "We only have a few days. Let's do this."

He and I got all of our equipment together, created a storyboard, filmed and edited the whole thing in a couple days over quite the amount of coffee. Here it is below, with a link to BTWinnipeg so you can vote. GO FOR IT!

New Company: Prairie City Sound

Taking the first step to becoming entrepreneurs, myself and one of my best friends, and colleagues, Kevin Mozdzen (First and last name are 2 different blogs by him) have began production on a small business we've labeled, "Prairie City Sound".

The business, in a nutshell, is a small production company, where local bands (and touring bands passing through) will pay a small fee to have us shoot a live, acoustic video of them in a location of their choice. If they cannot find one, we are slowly compiling a list of beautiful places in and around Winnipeg.

Our very first video was a "Lucky" find. Here it is, below. Watch and enjoy.

Icelandic Festival Video

Just finished a video for the Icelandic Festival (Islendingadagurinn). It was tons of fun to film and even more fun to edit. I do wish I had more time for editing, but I was on a tight schedule. There are quite a few things I would've fixed up. Oh well! Enjoy.

New Music Video | New Job

I've recently finished a little video for the music label, "I'm Trying Records". In doing so, I have been offered quite an interesting job. I'll tell you all about that after you watch the video. It's a simple one because of one fact; I filmed it myself and the shotgun mic was connected to the wide-angle cam; therefore, I had to stay near it, as I needed to monitor the input audio.

Now, watch and enjoy the musical stylings of Mr. Micah Erenberg a.k.a. Zoppa on the rooftops of downtown Winnipeg. I'm quite happy with how the color-correction turned out. Also, turn on HD!

Alright. Down to business. I'm Trying Records has officially introduced me to the managerial world of music. I will be working alongside the three, quite talented co-founders, Kevin Mozdzen, Corey Hykawy, and Ben Figler. My secondary tasks will be bookings, follow-ups, and all-around helping out with whatever needs to be done; my primary job is producing media-based content for the trio (now a foursome) of musical aficionados.

So head on over to I'm Trying Record's blog and see what they have to say. You can click the circular logo to your left, I've linked them above, or you can click HERE. Keep the spirit!

First Post

Just got back from New Zealand and Japan, only to work for another construction company, where the building choked the life out of you, day by day. SO I QUIT THAT SHIT! I am now a stray that was picked up off the street by the Cruise Media Group. They needed a video producer/designer/awesome person, and I needed money. Third floor of the Whiskey Dix building. Come on down and visit sometime. We'll play some soccer in the office, as usual.
